Italian Pirpua has made waves recently, with some killer tech house tracks getting picked up by the Likes of Nick Curly in the last few months. They've come on Cecile, Defected, Snatch! and Saved, and now it's Loco Dice's Desolat who come calling for the man's ever more in demand services with a new EP – backed with DJ Qu remix – out soon. How was 2011 for you?

It was a year full of gigs. I focused a lot on my DJ sets. I made fewer productions than in 2010, but everything went very well.

How much did your tastes evolve?

It's constantly changing. I'm now enjoying harder and darker sounds! Sometimes the music I play in my sets sounds deep, but it is always pumpin' & jumpin' with a big groove!

Will you do anything differently in 2012?

As I said before I will be very dark! I'm also doing more deep and electronic projects, something different from my usual funky disco music.

Tell us about your DESOLAT release…

The "Party Non-Stop" EP is the best dancefloor track I ever did! It has a devastating effect on the floor! Loco Dice loves this track and has been playing it for over 5 months now!

It's a great achievement for me releasing this EP on his label, Desolat!

I hope people will love it and will support the EP. It also includes the instrumental mix and remix by DJ QU, that is very "drama" and much deeper.

And how did you hook up with the label?

Easy, I sent it to Loco Dice because last summer he was playing my tracks out on Cecille!

Do you think of the dancefloor when writing or…?

Yes until a few months ago but I'm now doing less dancefloor stuff and I get my inspiration thinking about something else, even if my soul is always for the dancefloor!

What sort of kit do you use and is that important to you?

Ableton Live 8, good virtual synths and great loops!

What are your goals when DJing/writing a record?

I think it must be something different, eclectic but very intense and full of groove, deep but also hot! By the end is the dancefloor and the people that decide if the production is good or not!

What else you got coming up?

New stuff on Area Remote, Desolat, Snach!, Saved, Strictly Rhythm..…enough??

What do you like to do outside music?

I work everyday in studio with music, but when I have free time I like to go on holiday, I like to travel with my girlfriend or with some good friends!
