The award-winning Get Loaded in the Park festival returns to London for the 3rd consecutive year this summer with the Official Launch Party filling the floor at Turnmills (where it all began!) on Bank Holiday Sunday 16th April. To rally the troops ahead of this year’s dance-athon on Clapham Common, Get Loaded will be offering its very own mini-festival, with 5 rooms of fun & games, live acts, DJs and comedy to explore and get stuck into!
Last year’s sell-out event saw 20,000 party people jump around in the glorious sunshine to the likes of The Happy Mondays, Fatboy Slim, Paul Oakenfold, Snow Patrol, Elbow, The Cuban Brothers, Armand Van Helden, The Farm and Howard Marks… before continuing the party at The Clapham Grand. Having scooped ‘Best New Festival’ at the 2004 UK Festival Awards for our debut outdoor event, GLITP05 then came a very close 2nd in last year’s awards in the ‘Best One Day Festival’ category.
The launch party will feature some of the stars of GLITP05 alongside a host of hot new heroes for 2006. Look out for DJ sets from the The Dead 60’s, Stereo MCs, Bez (Happy Mondays), The Cuban Brothers, Cagedbaby, Clor, John Kennedy (X-FM), Kid Carpet, Jeff Automatic, the Backstage Sluts and the Broken Hooker Deejays, with special live performances from Deaf Stereo - who supported Mylo on his UK Tour last year and Waxed Apple, an outrageously cool new band from Brighton who count LCD Soundsystem amongst their biggest fans.
