Knowwhere.. the story so far..

Knowwhere celebrated their 4th birthday last October but Friday February 3rd sees the end of an era as they host their last monthly party at Heaven..

Knowwhere, cited as "London’s friendliest party," celebrated their fourth birthday last October but Friday February 3rd 2006 sees the end of an era as they host their last monthly party at Heaven, Charing Cross, London from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m.

The February line up continues the quality for which Knowwhere have become respected for over the last four years. AJ Gibson replaces Scott Bond in the Trance Room alongside one of Knowwhere’s favourites, Ian Betts! K90 with an exclusive producer’s set, also joins resident Adam White . He is backed up with Planet Angel’s Jurrane performing the opening set and residents/ knowwhere head honchos Anthony Dean and Pablo will draw the night to a close playing back to back. Stacey Kitson will also be performing live. What a treat!

In the Hard Dance Room, sponsors Trackitdown.net have helped to push the line-up for this room to the next level with Billy Daniel Bunter returning by popular demand after the 4th birthday party debut and he is joined by debut Knowwhere sets from Phil Reynolds and Spencer Freeland. Also on the bill in this room are Riot favourite Ed Real, Ollie Perris and Spikes.

In the Funky Room, the residents Funk-a-Tronic are joined by Funky Little Ant, Anthony Dean is that versatile he is playing in two rooms and onw of knowwhere's favorates Semi! They are joined by Little Miss Nads, who will be playing back to back with resident Lizzie Curious. A cracking night is on offer and not to be missed!

Mark Moore caught up with Knowwhere and studio director Anthony Dean for a chat about the Knowwhere ethos.

"Knowwhere was set up by myself, Pablo and Stevie and started up as a trance party at the 414 Club and we quickly grew out of that. We then moved to the Sound Shaft at the back of Heaven we then did a few one-off Cancer Back-Up parties at Heaven and the Coronet, raising money for the well-deserved charity. That gave us a taste for the bigger party! We then had the opportunity of moving from the Sound Shaft to the Fridge in Brixton and we continued to build and also introduce funky house as an alternative to the trance in the main room. The music policy at Knowwhere is based on my own musical loves – either I play it or I know – but above all it has to be uplifting, happy and fun with a bit of old skool! The DJs always tailor their sound to this ethos. The nights at the Fridge, with Matt Darey as resident, saw us starting to book big name DJs like Dave Pearce, Adam White and AJ Gibson but Knowwhere has always been about our residents. We never booked any big names at the Sound Shaft. That ethos continues today with our team of residents and their following. We then moved to Heaven where we found our musical home. We were also able to tap into a different and broader audience primarily because trance has not been getting the biggest crowds focusing a bit more on the hard house arena and booking crème de la crème people for that genre like Lisa Pin-Up, Tidy Boys, Phil Reynolds and Ed Reel," said Anthony Dean

So why all the changes at Knowwhere? Why are you moving to four parties? "We are going to make it more flexible for people by only putting on four big parties a year it does not mean we have to compromise our line-ups. It will also give us a stronger and longer promotional lead-up. The guests in future parties will be just as fantastic as our monthly parties have been and maybe even better with additional sponsors. The Knowwhere music policy will not be compromised. The parties will be even more special with more attention paid to detail and production," continued Anthony. "We will also be doing some special deals for our members and are hoping the next party will be at Heaven in May. It is the end of an era as the monthly parties cease but it marks the beginning of a new era and it’s certainly not the end of Knowwhere. I will also be developing Anthony Dean Live show where musicians and singers perform live seamlessly over my trance sets."
