Circoloco announced this week that they are to hold a one off party at DC10 next month, on Tuesday October 6.
"Now is official Circo Loco@dc10 Ibiza, Tuesday morning 6th October 2009 h12:00",” the hugely popular Ibiza minimal/ tech party promoters announced on Facebook, “See you on the terrace!!”
Their unexpected return to DC10 in 2009 follows several years of protracted legal problems over licensing issues which saw DC10 fined hundreds of thousands of euros and ordered to stay closed for the latest summer season. The new October date comes ten days after Space’s closing party at a time when most of the island’s hotels, shops, bars and restaurants are shuttered for the winter.
Though most year round residents extol the virtues of Ibiza out of season, a report on the out-of-season life on America’s luxury island resort Martha's Vineyard in the Telegraph last week, spoke of misery amongst the 15,000 residents left behind.
“Martha's Vineyard's dark little secret is one of desperately high levels of depression, alcoholism, drug abuse, domestic violence and even suicide attempts among a population that struggles to make ends meet in a billionaire's playground when the billionaires have all left,” said the Telegraph.
"It's the shadow side of Martha's Vineyard – all the things you don't expect to exist on a luxury island," Dr Gail Gordon, its former community services senior psychologist told the newspaper. "And it's the seasonal nature of the island that makes our social problems worse. Everyone works so hard over the summer and then there's this let down when all the others go,” he added.
