It’s a standard problem – you’ve having a good time at a festival, really great in fact, only now your mate who you were going to get a lift off, can’t give you a lift anymore. And now you are stuck, really stuck!

Not anymore, with the new goCarShare iPhone app, festival-goers will be able to link up ‘on the fly’. The app maps your current location, with a pinch and click, you’ll have a range of people to share the ride back just a phone call away.

goCarShare.com has already linked up with over 50 of the top Summer festivals and is working with festivals in innovative ways to help people share journeys:

The Secret Garden Party introduced a £2.50 empty car seats tax for drivers coming to the festival.

The result? 291 drivers added their details on goCarShare.com, saving themselves from having to pay the tax, but also getting a contribution to the travel costs (helpful in a time of ever rising fuel prices) and slept guilt free, safe in the knowledge that they had done their bit for the environment.

V Festival are strengthening their green initiatives by linking goCarShare to their mobile app in an effort to increase the take up of car sharing for 2011.

Reading and Leeds festivals are offering lucky festivalgoers the chance to be upgraded to VIP tickets if they car share.

With incentives like these, not to mention the cost saving and the ability to have fun with like minded people, it is little wonder that getting back from a festival is going to become a problem of the past.
