There are just two weeks left until the 6th Garden Festival starts! It’s this founding Croatian festival which started the whole burgeoning scene in the region, inspired by two families from the UK who have honed and crafted what is one of the world’s most revered events. Always with quality over quantity in mind, the Garden remains capped to just 2500 people to fashion a truly family affair on the stunning Dalmatian coastline, where warm azure Adriatic waters lap upon the shore and the sun always shines…
Set in the 900-year old fishing village of Petrcane, there are bars and restaurants along the promenade offering fine fresh fish caught that morning. Lazing the hours away beneath the sun whilst sipping a cocktail is the only way to start the day; later, as the music tempo increases, perhaps it’s time to catch the sunset at the Tiki Bar whilst dancing in the warm waters, or maybe one of the live headliners on the fully outdoor main stage, watching the Argonaughty Boat party dock. And later still, Barbarellas Discotheque beckons. The brilliant lineup this year includes everyone from Robert Owens, Electric Wire Hustle and Sergio and Benoit to Qool DJ Marv, Soul Clap and Wolf and Lamb. The Garden Festival continues not only to capture but truly enrich peoples’ imaginations - a true fusion of relaxing holiday and riotous festival, situated in an area close to the historic and beautiful city of Zadar. Pristine national parks, secluded beaches and hundreds of islands are close by too…
Tickets have now almost sold-out now for this summer’s Garden Festival, with under 100 left now for the Back To Our Roots 7-day and night weekend event. So if you are still intending to buy a ticket, do so quickly as the festival will sell out!
Nick Colgan, one of the Garden Festival’s founders, says that, “The site is looking wonderful, it’s really blooming now. The weather’s great and everything is sun-kissed, and there’s been the gradual building of excitement and anticipation since May really to this very moment. We think people will again be wowed by the Garden – the site’s been tweaked a bit and has got an even more intimate feel. We think we have got another really diverse lineup of very new talent plus some good old faces too.”
If you are looking for a last minute trip and are enticed by those last few festival tickets, there are some great bargains to be had from www.ryanair.com including £150 for Fri 8th-Mon 11th July Stansted to Zadar. You can also fly via www.croatiaairlines.com/en, www.easyjet.com, www.wizzair.com and www.jet2.com.
With the lineup now available as a PDF from the website, there have been a few recent changes. Unfortunately Chali 2na and Different Drummer are no longer playing whilst there are a few new additions too, including Danny Clark, Get Deep, Nick The Record, Sebastian Spring, SterryO and Big Danny Kane.
The Garden Keeps Growing – Site Changes and Developments
It’s one of the last pieces of this summer’s Garden Festival which has slotted perfectly into place. And speaking of boats, there are some important site changes happening too.
Ahoy me hearties! Tickets for all Argonaughty sessions have been selling faster than ever with most parties sold out; to see what’s left please go to: http://www.thegardenfestival.eu/#/en/take-part/festival-tickets/argonaughty-boat-party-tickets/
Don’t forget too for those who don’t want their night to end the party goes on until dawn in Barbarellas Discotheque, a lovingly refurbished club from the 1960s which features Funktion-One, air-con and a host of brilliant DJs and parties. For tickets check: http://www.thegardenfestival.eu/#/en/take-part/festival-tickets/barbarellas-afterparty-tickets/
The site itself is going to look different too; a brand new Buccaneer Bar to the west of the site, the champagne bar moving to the east and a new home for the luxuriating massages too. Keep checking the website and mail-outs for info.
The Garden Petrcane is situated in a stunning area; just 20 minutes from the beautiful and historic city of Zadar, within reaches of beaches, sleepy villages, arts, culture and – of course – lots of sun. There’s lots to see and do for those planning to make a holiday out of their Garden Festival experience, including wine tasting, the Krka National Park with its waterfalls, wildlife and verdant land, gourmet sailing, kayaking on Zrmanje River and much more. Croatia itself is enjoying a renaissance as a travel destination, offering everything from secluded coves and deserted stretches of pristine beach to historic and vibrant cities, succulent sea-food and an enriching culture of old and new.
