The latest Rock Ness announcement features a stunning line-up of electronic, dance and rock’s most exciting names, hosted over two days against the breathtaking beauty of historic Loch Ness. Announcements to date include FATBOY SLIM, RAZORLIGHT, UNDERWORLD, THE VIEW, EDITORS, ROISIN MURPHY, CSS, HADOUKEN!, SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO, THE CRIBS, THE TWANG and DIGITALISM to name a few. This latest line up confirmation is sure to further reinforce the credentials of Rock Ness for pursuing an inspired music policy and offering a cool summer soundtrack for music lovers.
Saturday 7 June sees a roll call of the freshest music acts gracing the MAIN STAGE, CLASH arena, SOULWAX presents 2MANYDJs arena, David Guetta’s legendary F**K ME I’M FAMOUS Arena and the popular NESSTIVAL Arena brought to the Highlands by the award-winning Bestival. These include producer extraordinaire THE COUNT & SINDEN live, CAGED BABY, disco experimentalists HERCULES and LOVE AFFAIR, PHAT PHIL COOPER and a DJ set from THE CRYSTAL METHOD. Joining them will be Norway’s psychedelic popsters THE LIONHEART BROTHERS, Kentucky’s mighty CAGE THE ELEPHANT and the visual mixing geniuses ECLECTIC METHOD. Topping the new announcements for Saturday, and one which promises to be the ultimate crowd pleaser, is the confirmation SOULWAX who will perform live, and Scotland’s finest dance superstar, MYLO!
Sunday 8 June sees the inventors of ambient house THE ORB confirmed as headliners in the hugely popular, and exclusive to Scotland, SUNDAY BEST arena presented by the legendary Radio 1 DJ ROB DA BANK. Joining in the Sunday Best fun will be exclusive performances from DJ YODA, YOUSEF and Glasgow’s finest BOOM MONK BEN.
Other new acts announced include a hugely anticipated appearance from Berlin’s BOYS NOIZE, sets from two of the UK’s most exciting crossover bands LATE OF THE PIER and DOES IT OFFEND YOU YEAH?, and a PENDULUM DJ SET with MC VERSE. Australia’s electro prog rockers MIDNIGHT JUGGERNAUTS, tipped by many as Daft Punk’s successors will play what is sure to be a very special set alongside Kitsune’s DAVID E SUGAR, Parisien producer whiz ALAN BRAXE and the awesome ghetto-gothic-danceteers THE BLACK GHOSTS aka DJ Touche and Simian vocalist Simon Lord (of Justice mega smash fame ‘We Are Your Friends’). Adding a distinct guitar based indie flavour are THE DYKEENIES, PETE AND THE PIRATES, DAS POP and The Highland’s fast rising JYROJETS.
Organisers have also confirmed a host of additional exciting new arenas will be added for 2008 including SKINS LIVE, headlined this year by legendary Chicago house DJ Felix Da Housecatt plus very special guests all of whom are guaranteed to fuel the festival party atmosphere in synonymous Skins style!
This latest Rock Ness line up announcement follows the much publicised news last week of Channel 4 Television’s decision to broadcast Rock Ness across its UK network, a coup hailed by many as signalling the festival’s burgeoning status within the industry.
The weekend’s extensive on-site festival fun is sure to be captured and should prove highly entertaining viewing on Channel 4 given the fashion-fabulous Dressing Up Tent, whacko Lost in Sound experience, Bollywood Cocktail Bar, Black Isle Pub and The Whisky Bar plus loads of other surprises still be announced!
