** SOLD OUT **

We promised you a heatwave, and that’s exactly what you got at this summer’s Electric Gardens festival as a sell-out crowd of 14,000 party people descended on the scrumptious setting of Mount Ephraim Gardens, Kent to enjoy the hottest weekend of the year so far and an even hotter list of live acts and DJs.

THE GARDENS WERE ELECTRIC!!
The weekend’s action kicked off at midday on Saturday as crowds flocked to the campsite to soak up the near 30 degree heat and set up base for the fun-packed 48 hours ahead. With the sun blazing down, the main stage witnessed some truly outstanding live performances, beginning in the afternoon with rising stars Blood Red Shoes and Pull Tiger Tail. Reverend & the Makers and The Pipettes kept up the pace into the early evening, before the current queen of pop, Kate Nash proved just why she is so darn good, with an amazing show! The scene was set for electronic star Calvin Harris to show us why it’s acceptable to be in the 80’s, before the big headliners of the day Supergrass blew everyone off the stage with their high-tempo set! Elsewhere on site, Plan B, New Young Pony and Lethal Bizzle rammed out the 2nd Stage together with the acoustic guitar sounds of Newton Faulkner – this week’s No.3 in the UK album charts. The Myspace Stage bounced around to the sounds of Goodbooks, Lupen Crook and Beans on Toast, but the best biggest cheer was left for Scroobius Pip, which drew the stages biggest crowd of the day. Meanwhile, over at Club Class’s brightly-coloured dance arena big guns - Slam, Stanton Warriors and Nic Fanciulli kept the dance freaks happy, with old pro Mike Pickering bringing the 1st day to close with a classic Hacienda set - the perfect conclusion/introduction to the following nights headline band….

THE MONDAYS WERE HAPPY WITH THE SUPER GRASS!!
As the campers mourned their 1st hangover of the weekend, the temperatures continued to soar both on and off the stage! Today’s main stage entertainment saw Milburn, The Noisettes and The Maccabees get the indie bandwagon on its way, before The Young Knives dropped their aptly named anthem ‘Hot Summer’ to an ear-deafening cheer!! The indie royalty continued in the shape of The Rakes, before everyone’s favourite double act – Shaun Ryder & Bez brought this summer’s Electric Gardens to a partisan close as The Happy Mondays rolled back the years, featuring all their old classics, plus brand new material off the new LP. The sun-drenched crowd had their melons well and truly twisted! The 2nd Stage remained roadblocked for a second day with Patrick Wolf, Jack Penate, Mr Hudson & the Library and local lad Kid Harpoon pulling in the crowds… but it was teenager Laura Marling who possibly impressed the most; definitely an artist to keep an eye on!! The Myspace Stage continued to support the best local bands Kent has to offer with Underground Heroes, Chineapples and Rosemary all receiving rave reviews, but it was the performance of new dance darlings Devils Gun (the new Groove Armada?) that got the biggest cheer! The 4/4 beats continued to roll over at the Club Class Tent, with Funk D’Void, Justin Robertson, Anil Chawla and Damian Lazarus twisting the minds of the afternoon faithful, before the scene was set for the masterful Danny Howells to swap his techno tones for a straight up 80’s set, complete with disco lights and spandex leggings!!

LOOKING AHEAD…
Electric Gardens will return next summer for another intimate weekend at the breathtaking Mount Ephraim Gardens – plus the ducks will be back too!! If you can’t wait that long, then don’t despair as the next festival from the Lock N Load team kicks off in London on Sunday 26th August at Clapham Common. Get Loaded in the Park is the one-day festival that joins the dots between indie and dance with sets from The Street, Dirty Pretty Things, The Go! Team, Dizzee Rascal, M.I.A, 2ManyDJs, Yoda, plus many more. For the full line-up and info, check out: www.getloadedinthepark.com
