Kinky Malinki celebrate 11 years on october 3rd at Matter and have invited hot producer and Dj Eddie Thoneick to headline the event.. We caught up with him for an exclusive interview to get the low down.....
Kinky Malinki are celebrating 11 years in the business, do you think this is a huge achievement to maintain such success?
I think it´s amazing that a brand keeps up that long. First of all congrats to that! It´s hard to stay on top in an everyday changeing scene. A couple of years ago I already heard that name several times.
What do you think is the key to their success?
Seems like the guys have a good marketingstrategy aswell as a good way of promoting
Obviously your own music is unique from Kinky Malinki, perhaps you could tell our readers a little about yourself, your music?
I´ve been maikeing music from an early age on. Playing various instruments like piano, guitar I always felt connected to music. Started Djing 17 Years ago and producing about 9 years ago.
Since 2006 I finally had quite a breakthru with Love Sensation. from that day on I had the chance to work on remixes for Guetta, Sinclar, Ingrosso, Angello, Moby, Fedde le grand just to name a few.
In early 2009 I started my own label Tonik Rcrdngs and started releasing my own tracks there aswell as tracks of fellow producers like Dons, DBN, Kurd Maverick and many more.
Kinky Malinki's 11 birthday party is being held at Matter, are you familiar with it as a venue, what are your impressions of it?
I just heard it is the hippest location in townright now, so I´m really looking forward to it!
What drive your music and any particular influences that have had the most impact on your career?
When i started djing I was acheing getting all todd terry, armand van Helden, Sneak stuff. So I collected all Strictly Rhythm, 4th Floor, Henry Street records. Also I´m a huge fan of Blues, Soul & jazz which influenced me a lot productionwise working with vocals.
Any upcoming releases/projects of your we should be looking out for?
New single just came out and it´s called "love under pressure" featuring Andy p on the vocals. Also I had the chance working together with Shena. After remixing the famous DeSouza "guilty" track where Shena sung, I thought about working with her. Also more Collaborations will be comeing up soon!
