OM has always been about much more than music. Undoubtedly a powerhouse music label and a global events production company; Om is also a style brand with design accolades ranging from nearly every major publication in the world including Vibe, Billboard, The New York Times and more.
Following in the footsteps of Mute, Sonar Kollektiv and International DJ Gigolos; Om brings together over fourteen years worth of art produced for the vinyl releases in one unique exhibition at East London’s Art Vinyl Gallery.
Founded by Christopher Smith in the mid-nineties and best known for their deep house sound that made the label famous in the early days, Om Records has led the way in global dance music releasing the seminal series Mushroom Jazz & Om Lounge and bringing artists like Kaskade, People Under The Stairs, Mark Farina & Strange Fruit Project to the masses.
Artists featured in the Om exhibition include legendary graffiti artist and original member of the Rock Steady Crew, Doze Green. Influential LA based artist and BLK/MRKT gallery owner, Dave Kinsey, and David Flores; the urban artist and creator of the iconic ‘San Francisco Breaks’ cover and favourite of Kanye West.
The Exhibition is free and held at ‘The Art Vinyl Gallery’ on Hackney’s uber hip Broadway Market. The gallery is a unique space designed to celebrate art and graphic design created especially for vinyl records and the synergy that exists between art & music utilising ‘The Play & Display Flip Frame’, the first framing solution designed to specifically hold vinyl records.
