The world premiere of 3D visuals in a fully immersive 360 degree environment is about to hit London with futuristic force. The dynamic creators of the popular audio-visual party 3D Disco were awarded a £10,000 bursary through the Smirnoff Night Vision™ Initiative to launch 3D DISCO™ goes 360 here in the capital.
Not ones to rest on their laurels, the 3D DISCO pioneers; Adam Finley, Elliot Thompson, Nikolas Barrera, Andrew Nixon and Keith Daniels of NOVAK Collective are catapulting the nightlife scene to breathtaking new heights. Hand-picked by London nightlife luminaries including Shaun Roberts - Promotions Manager of Fabric, Simone Baird - Social Club Editor at Time Out magazine and Crispin Dior - the promoter behind Field Day, Adventures in the Beetroot Field and Stag & Dagger for their enlightening originality and innovation. Testament to this NOVAK have created an excitingly unique audiovisual experience which needs to be experienced to be believed.
Imagine if you can; 5 x 5,000 Lumen HD projectors blasting eye-popping high definition 3D visuals a full 360 degrees around an geodesic IGLOO dome, and a premium sound system pumping out classic and cutting edge club music, all to be witnessed through the red and blue glimmering magnificence of 3D specs. Mystified? The result a fully immersive, 3D clubbing environment, with fascinating visuals so close - you can taste them.
Inspired by the original explosion of 3D films, get ready to get down to NOVAK’s atmospheric mix of club tracks beside 3D characters from the 50s, through to the present day and beyond. Wide-eyed nuclear families will be tapping their feet along with 60s beatniks, disco freaks, 80s hedonists and today's glitch-age noughties will all be present in retro-futurist styles from NOVAK’s own bespoke colour optimization plug-ins.
With visuals that don’t just pop out in front of you, but float from every direction in a ghostly fashion make your spine tingle, be prepared to dodge records flying through the crowd, gaze at CDs and headphones materialising from thin air, and be mesmerized by music visibly floating from the speakers.
The IGLOO will be erected inside the O2 on Thursday 14th May to celebrate the launch of Matter’s new monthly AV night which will also feature shows from DJ Yoda and Inside Us All. The unique art installation will then remain in the dome over the weekend to give everyone a chance to experience clubbing in another dimension.
Monthly bursaries of £2,000 are still available to anyone across the UK*, and presiding over entries are Radio 1’s Rob da Bank, Don’t Panic founder Nick Agha, Primary Talent’s Cris Hearn and Cream honcho James Barton (*terms and conditions apply and can be found here)
Rob da Bank comments:
"I am very taken with the Smirnoff Night Vision initiative for promoters. I started out as promoter putting on Sunday Best events with a £1.99 entrance fee, and now have my own Bestival and Camp Bestival festivals for up to 35,000 people. I'm delighted to help select some of the country's most unique and original new music promoters."
Applications can be submitted via the dedicated Facebook page after becoming a fan.
Another four London Night Vision winners are soon to be announced, each receiving £10,000 towards their event. The resulting Night Vision events will form another London series throughout July 2009 that will sit around The Smirnoff Co.’s own take on an original night; Smirnoff Experience®, details about which will be released nearer the time.
