Fergie – Summer Update

175_115_fergie_up.jpg
Fergie is looking good for the summer of 2008. Find out what he's been up and what's coming up here.

His increasing maturity continues with the ascent of his Excentric project, a brace of club nights in the UK and Ibiza continue the wild party aesthetic, whilst the musical side of things is well kept too, constantly working hard on unearthing new talent. Excentric returns to Birmingham's Custard Factory in July with Slam and King Unique in tow, with further dates planned at the Ice Factory in Perth before a monthly run in the autumn at the Brum megalopolis.

His own music isn't doing too bad either. Current label smash 'Anon' continues to gather pace, the best Fergie has produced for a while and a track receiving constant support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Miss Kitten and Adam Beyer, whilst flying out of the record stores, most notably Beatport. And the latest smash 'In the Wee Small Hours' EP, a fierce and raucous selection of trippy beats, funky melodies and frenetic goodness, received a gamut of critical praise. It had Danny Howells insisting 'Fergie never sleeps, he's always knocking out bombs!' and Pig & Dan remarking 'Fergie is just kicking ass all the way!'; more reactions are listed below. And dance music's greatest tag team are in love with his sound too, with both Sasha and Digweed caning his remix of King Unique's 'Hinode', the latter spotlighting a Fergie Mix on his massive transitions show and asking him to remix a track for his hugely influential bedrock imprint.

None of this diminishes his presence behind the deck of course. After recently playing for Craft Music at one of their bashes in Hamburg, Fergie's summer is peppered with a host of high profile parties, not least midlands techno institution Firefly's eighth birthday and a string of Excentric dates coming up. All will be treated to his constantly morphing forward thinking sound, honed on years of infiltrating the techno genres and creating a vibe driven by melody and groove which constantly stays a step ahead of the game.
