Ahoy there me hearties!! Those salty sea dogs at Live Nation are as proud as Punch and Judy to be announcing a brand spanking new seaside festival, so get your buckets and spades and swimmers at the ready!
Playaway, which will now be the first fantastic festival of the season –16, 17, 18, April will take place at the legendary British holiday company Butlins. The bright and breezy beaches of Skegness will host this three day spectacular of the highest order.
With a cosy limited amount of tickets on sale it will remind you of a good old fashioned sea side shindig. Think fish n’ chips, think beach huts and creating special memories that will last forever. It will warm the cockles of your hearts!
Sweeter than a stick of rock, the line up so far (just a taster of what’s to come) includes the likes of Scots man and synth pop’s finest Calvin Harris along with jaunty indie-pop boys Scouting For Girls and infectiously cool punk tinged rock and soul trio Noisettes. Stick that in your 99!
They will also be joined by I Blame Coco (aka. Coco Sumner aka. Sting’s daughter) who will be bringing her own blend of reggae tinged pop and a familiar husky voice to proceedings. Joining Coco and strutting her way into the Playaway line up is one to watch, sassy British pop-rocker Tiffany Page. Think Chrissie Hynde, Belinda Carlisle and Tori Amos brought bang up to date and you’re half way there. Marvelous!
But don’t get your bathers in a twist! If you like you tunes with a bit more sub, Drum and Bass heavyweights Chase and Status DJ’s and Sub Focus will also be stepping up to the Playaway Plate and along with MCs Rage and I.D. will be trading their urban jungle for some sea and sand action this April!
Playaways inspiration is that of a good old fashioned balmy beautiful seaside jaunt. Think old school British Holiday capers with a twist of contemporary chic and you’ll get close to what the world of Playaway is all about. You will bathe in nostalgia and fall into sandpits of giggles at the extra nautical activities which will whet your appetite all weekend. We will be asking you to “Let’s get quizzical” with The Sounds Familiar Music Quiz, and it will be scores on the doors with the most dangerous form of bingo - The Underground Rebel Bingo Club. At Swap-a-rama Razzmatazz don’t wear anything you can’t live without as who knows what you will end up wearing stumbling back to your apartment. Bringing some glamour to the party are Smash n Grabresidents and the original purveyors of cool Queens of Noize who have boogied their way onto Playaway’s 2010 line up to bring you the best electro/disco floor fillers that cant fail to get you bopping.
Providing the soundtrack to these unforgettable seaside shenanigans, Playaway have selected a tasty pick n mix of amazing artists, both established artists and rising stars that will have you dribbling into your candy floss with excitement!
With an onsite cinema expect themed days and sing-along-Sound of Music with a John Hughes blockbusting bonanza of a Sunday to round things off nicely!
Playaway will lead you on a merry jaunt around the most magical menagerie of mystical entertainment and music with sprinkles of surprises thrown in too... how exciting!
