Where are u right now and what are you doing?
I’m on my acoustic tour with my band up north, we’ve done Manchester, York and Newcastle. Then back to London for more gigs this weekend.
Who or what has been your biggest influence?
Music, people around me and life experiences, the people I’m working with right now are really inspirational. All of these things around me add to my sound, who I am and the music I make.
What can people expect from your live show?
Good energy & Passion
Who is your all time musical hero?
I take a lot from the Motown era and I respect so many artists, Marvin Gaye, Aretha, Stevie Wonder, and in the house world India is my all time favourite vocalist.
What makes a party good & bad?
People and the Music, simple
Is there an all-time favourite track you wish you'd been a part of?
I love so many quality tracks but my focus is on making great music not wishing for something impossible. I work with people who have made tracks I love so its all good.
What’s the single most exciting thing about dance music at the moment in your opinion?
Anyone can be a part of it. New artists and producers are breaking through all the time, the doors have opened so now it’s not just about the same people, it’s a good time for fresh music.
Who’s been your favourite musician or producer that you have worked with over the years?
Without a doubt, Sandy Rivera (Kings of Tomorrow), I had my first release on Defected with him with Can’t Stop and we have gone on to record an album together. We work really well together and I’m learning so much. We’re working on more dance releases but the album is a full live band with a different sound, It’s really exciting.
Who is rocking your boat these days and who are your top tips for 2008?
I really like the Mastiksoul, its quirky and bouncy, I also like Alex Kenji, good peak time stuff. Todd Terry is back with a nice sound, old skool but always a winner. I also support new artists so i’m always looking for new sounds from people I haven’t heard of.
If you could have anyone remix any of your tracks, who would it be and why?
I would be interested to see what Groove Armada would do with something of mine
Which DJ would you most like to punch and why?
Anyone who tries to cut out my last tune too early, sooooo annoying!
What is the magic hangover cure?
Water, loads of it!
What is the best thing, and the worst thing about the dance music scene?
Best - A sea of people all rocking to one vibe with happy faces
Worst - Ibiza putting roofs over open terraces!
What do you think about this whole minimal craze and do you support that?
I’m not crazy into it but some of the tracks I play have some minimal sounds in them. It’s just another part of the scene, you don’t have to jump on every sound, stick to what you love and people respect you for that. I evolve but my roots are in house.
What are the top five most listened to tracks/songs on your iPod?
Zero 7 - Destiny
Kenny Lattimore - Days like this
Kosheen - Hide you
Angie Stone - Wish I didn’t miss you
Madcon - Begging
If you had to do something different what do you think you would end up doing?
Being depressed
What is your top tune of the moment?
Feel what you want (Bingo players remix)
