Eskimo Twins ‘Horror EP’
Production duo and Wax:On residents, Eskimo Twins, have been catching the ears of a fair few tastemakers with their productions lately. Include Fake Blood, Boys Noize, plus Radios 1’s Zane Lowe, Kissy Sellout and Annie Mac in that list and you can see why people are starting to stand-up and take notice of the pair.
Now ahead of the chills and darkness of winter, Eskimo Twins release their Wax:On Music debut, the ‘Horror EP’. A frighteningly stylish duo of mutant variants where the glitchy acid-drenched techno in ‘Horror’ supports French sounding arpeggios and voice-box vocals, and the analogue 808 noodlings, Moog grumblings and sci-fi squeakings glare menacingly at the optimistic vintage piano house riffs of ‘Peck’.
A real Jekyll and Hyde, the ‘Horror EP’ is as much about sophisticated, musical ideas as it is working a sweaty dancefloor.
And working sweaty dancefloors is the task matched to Joe & Will Ask? - the first of three remixers assigned to lead track, ‘Horror’. Destroying dancefloors in its wake, rolling bass and relentless groove push ‘Horror’ up a notch, revitalising any flagging club zombies.
Next up, label-buddy Doorly the latest ‘made' man in UK dubstep. Proving his recent pedigree Doorly is let loose to create a relentless, glitched-up gutter-beast. And when you finish throwing monster Doorly style shapes, Cassette Jam’s pounding remix leads you back to the march adding a tougher, twisted edge to complete the package.
With a debut release on Streetlife DJs’ label Street Beats, remixes for the likes of Doorly and People Get Real under their belts, plus their continued residency at Bad Robot and Wax:On, self-proclaimed obsessive audio compulsives Eskimo Twins are fast becoming one of the undergrounds most wanted.
‘Horror EP’ by Eskimo Twins featuring remixes from Joe & Will Ask?, Doorly and Cassette Jam is out November 23rd on Wax:On Music.
