Polish artist Jurek Przezdziecki has recorded for Cocoon, Boshke Beats, Whirlpoolsex Music, Recognition Records and now with his debut solo album Definition Records.
Jurek Przezdziecki was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1973. At the age of 10, as a result of his early, classical fascination with Chopin, Beethoven and Bach, he started piano lessons. At that time he totally felt in love with music. Studying at the Warsaw College of Art he had the first opportunity to hear some electronic music. Front 242, Psychic TV, Throbbing Gristle, SPK and Coil changed Jurek’s attitude to the music forever. It was no longer enough to listen. He wanted to create. No matter what music genre he’s currently in, there’s always one goal: originality.
“‘Biscuit Symphony’ is the record of the most beautiful moments and impressions related to music. It reflects authentic experiences and emotions that for me are most important in listening to music. I have traditional taste. I do not try to hide it. I am inspired by classical and contemporary classical music. However this does not mean that I seek ready phrases or themes to incorporate them in my compositions. I look for the common denominator that is the absence of superficiality. The very act of listening boosts my creative adrenaline and aspirations.”
Music compiled on the album represents compositions from the last two years. Despite that, most of them were mixed in a new order to sound more coherent. Diversity of the material is the most crucial feature. There are motor pieces as well as epic compositions. Some of them tell musical history, others transfer pure dance floor energy.
The title is just a free association – without any philosophy or hidden meaning. Sound associations with such ‘biscuit symphony’ came later and inspired Jurek to write short texts that explain to the listener what was going on inside his head when he created the material. Titles of some of the pieces are headlines of spam he received and collected some time ago. The most bizarre ones (Lender Pitiffuly, Relationship Sunblock) were used on the album.
“I want to improve myself as an artist and reach deeper. My goal is to constantly raise the artistic bar. When I compose I do not think about the function, style or contemporary trend. I choose the egoistic experience with which I feed my soul and fill my heart. I believe that there are people who will find what I do appealing and worthy of exploring.”
As an electronic music producer Jurek Przezdziecki has produced 2 previous albums, many EPs and single pieces and has DJed in Japan, Australia, South Africa, Brazil, United States, Canada, Portugal, Norway, Germany and of course Poland.
