Every now and again you hear a club track that does so much more than just make you dance. ‘Take Me Away’ from Aztec Records’ latest starlet, Nina is one such instance.

Full of emotional complexity and warmth, the dream-like vocal performance affects your heart, mind and soul as much as the ferocious beat and stabbing synths induce sudden movements from your hands and feet on the floor. It’s highly addictive, bold house music but guided through the human touch of the beautiful, German singer as opposed to cold hardware and machines. The pounding 4/4 beat, deep synths and futuristic FX add the energy and club atmosphere whilst Nina’s stunning vocals underpin the track with a soulful sincerity, allowing the listener to sink into a deeper, more relaxed vibe which in turn injects the personality that makes this such a standout track.

Indeed it seems personality is the trademark of Aztec Records, whose releases always come armed with bags full of charisma and individuality. Recent EPs from rising New York singer / songwriter Angelo and Scottish talent Raff have already shown the imprint to have a unique charm and magnetism all of their own. ‘Take Me Away’ only cements this now unquestionable trait, raising the profile of the London based label even further. And true to their love of all things dance, Nina’s original is joined by a heavy remix package that sends ‘Take Me Away’ down as many twists and turns that you can possibly imagine. Jad Cooper adds swashes of swirling FX, wonky loops and deep rolling basslines to the vocals to bring a captivating and elongated afterparty feel to Nina’s work. Producer duo Tokash and Reid go subterranean on their rework, taking us deep underground on their Ibiza-style remix.  Rapid indigenous drums cascade over deep bass, lush pads and Nina’s breathy vocals in this wonderfully progressive re-work. Alongside a slower remix from Disco Damage and an upfront, FX-heavy one from Sebastian Rei, this is definitely a remix package for the club heads out there.

Yet more evidence that Aztec Records are more than just a label to keep an eye on, ‘Take Me Away’ is an accomplished debut release from an artist that matches her psychical beauty with an artistic vision that shines as bright. With more releases apparently on the way, Nina is sure to be a name that shoots to prominence over the coming months and years…. And we couldn’t be happier about it!!!
