The Organisers of the Liverpool Sound City festival have teamed up with leading Dubai based entertainment company New Dawn to announce that they are heading over to the United Arab Emirates to stage the first ever Dubai Sound City. 3 steamy days and nights of music business and hedonism in the new capital of the sun!
Opening the door to the innovative and forward thinking markets of the far East with the first live music industry showcase festival for the region, Dubai Sound City will enable the Eastern and Western music industries to meet with each other in the central international hub of Dubai, at what aims to become the most important date in the international winter music business diary.
Dubai is not only a central hub for all key international destinations, but with the trend for the global economy shifting eastwards, culture and music are experiencing rapid growth in this area like never before.
In partnership with the award winning New Dawn, Dubai Sound City aims to replicate the success of Liverpool Sound City, which in only it’s second year has quickly grown into the UK’s coolest, boutique city-centre music festival and business conference.
In 2009 Liverpool Sound City hosted over 400 artists in 32 different venues, in front of over 30,000 music lovers and music business executives. Artist who appeared included The Zutons, White Lies, Little Boots, White Denim, Black Lips, Telepathe, Enter Shikari, You Me @ Six, Cage The Elephant, Mongrel, and The Rascals. Alongside these over 1000 speakers and delegates from over 20 countries including Nic Harcourt, DJ KCRW & Music Supervisor for Beverley Hills 90210 (USA) ,Michael Kramer, MD TBWA (Germany), Billy Bragg, Musician and Political Activist, and Will Sergeant of Echo and The Bunnymen.
By Day, Dubai Sound City will juxtapose the serenity and grandeur of the 5* Le Meridien Dubai by holding debates surrounding The Middle East as a market for music as well as the common themes and challenges facing the music industry across the globe, particularly in the live sector.
By night, Dubai Sound City will come alive as the Irish Village hosts over 100 of the best artists from around the world, in its stunning outdoor location next to its very own lake.
When the live music is over, delegates and fans will be able to continue partying at official after parties. These will be hosted at Chi, Club 360, The Apartment (Jumeirah Beach Hotel) and other venues across the city, with DJ sets from internationally recognised DJ’s and exclusive artist performances, in order to give visitors to Dubai a taste of the city’s most luxurious venues.
Dubai Sound City will be the launch of an annual festival and conference in this region and will encapsulate the essence of the Sound City brand- the best new bands, engaging speakers and debates, and 3 days of hot, hot heat in the centre of this international business and pleasure region.
