‘Sensitivity’ is the new single from The Shapeshifters & Chic. One of the hottest cuts from their acclaimed recent album, ‘Sound Advice’, it follows their latest smash, ‘Incredible’, which reached No. 12 in the UK charts in March. This is their much-vaunted collaboration with one of their greatest influences, namely Chic and Nile Rodgers. Simon and Max have taken the latter’s mantle of soulful, electronic music and given it a place on 21st century dancefloors.
And who better placed to do so? With 3 hit singles, 2 successful mix compilations, and an artist album under their belt to date, The Shapeshifters have risen to become the biggest name in UK house music. They picked up more silverware at the last House Music Awards (‘Best Breakthrough DJs 2005’), and led a riotous Winter Music Conference in Miami by holding a joint event with the Godfather of House, Frankie Knuckles. To top it all, this collaboration with the legendary Nile Rodgers is a blistering summer tune that is fast becoming one of the season’s biggest records.
The song came about after Nile was introduced to The Shapeshifters’ music via a mutual friend. He became a fan, so Simon and Max got in touch and they began to swap music and tracks across the internet, in what became transatlantic jamming sessions. During all this, Nile dug up an old demo that the boys loved, they added further production and a new song co-written with Jenna G and ‘Sensitivity’ was born. Kelly Marie Smith is once again on guest vocals, and the sublime fretwork comes courtesy of Nile himself.
Catch The Shapeshifters at every major summer dance festival this summer, and for those heading to Ibiza this summer, you can catch them headlining the Terrace at Cream, Amnesia, and appearing twice more at Def Mix @ Pacha, alongside Mr Knuckles.
