London party promoters Secretsundaze hosted a party in one of London’s most notorious areas Peckham last weekend, hosting a Sunday afternoon on the rooftop of much hyped new clubbing venue the Bussey Building.

“Peckham has long been championed as 'the new Shoreditch',” they explained in the press release promoting the event, “So it's about time the boys dipped their toe in south of the river to spread some of that secretsundaze magic.”

Their decision to venture to South London came two years after the New York Times singled out Peckham as a 'go-to cultural destination' on account of leading local artist/ entrepreneurs Hannah Barry and Sven Muendner.

The Times’ coverage spawned a rash of similarly euphoric follow up pieces from English newspapers such as the Metro.

“According to the enthusiastic article, the south London hotspot is set to steal Shoreditch's status as the capital artistic hub,” the Metro declared, “Despite having the highest number of stabbings, hairdressers and gospel churches.”

'It's a mini-Lagos,” local artist ‘Dean Kissick concurred, “With hectic street markets, joyful evangelical churches and burnt-out pubs that once housed witch doctors.”
