Rob da Bank founder of Bestival, Camp Bestival and Sunday Best shares his tips for an unforgettable New Years Eve party.
- Theme – Get dressed up, to get down - a theme will make your party experience unique. Turn a cold and boring NYE party on its head. A Hawaiian theme? Make wacky sunglasses and lairey shirts compulsory.
Or what about creating an indoor festival with each room taking on a different dimension? Imagine the world’s smallest disco in the cupboard under the stairs, get the glowsticks out for a 90’s fleuro rave in the lounge and build a space odyssey in the kitchen.
- Music – Not everyone likes the same styles of music - play different genres in different rooms to add to the festival vibe.
- Make it democratic - give people the opportunity to have their say on the tracks played on the night with an exclusive 15 minute iPod DJ set from all in attendance.
- Performance – what’s your party trick? Bring some entertainment to the party whether it be magic, a dance routine, speech, poem or karaoke rendition.
-Capture the experience – create a photo booth where people pop-in and snap themselves in crazy outfits. A dress-up box of silly accessories nearby will encourage party-goers to get involved.
Re-live the excitement after the party by sharing the photos from the night with your friends on your social networks.
- Make it memorable – give the night a highlight where people look back and say ‘I was there’, whether it be sparklers at midnight or dancing wildly to your favourite track of 2009.
