Dot Rotten is the new UK star on the block. A prodigious talent, his lyrics, delivery and style are all-unique in 2011. A hip-hop thing and a grime thing, he is the next great UK hip-hop star in waiting.
‘Keep It On A Low’ is massive. Huge, surging synths are dark and melodic and hit the massive chorus full on, whilst Dot’s soon-to-be-trademark delivery throws the track through the speakers to create a jaw-dropping single and announcing his full intentions to the world.
Dot has already received massive support from at radio. Debut release ‘Normal Human Being’ caught the eyes and ears of top UK tastemakers which helped secure heavy rotation at 1Xtra and spot plays from Mistajam, Tim Westwood, Zane Lowe and Nihal, (where the track received the winning vote on his review show). Summer 2011 saw the release online of the ‘Above The Waves’ EP. The video for ‘Normal Human Being’ instantly set Dot apart from the crowd. Dressed in a Saville Row suit, it captured Dot walking the streets of Paris, a cut above the rest. Critical acclaim followed, with Dazed, i-D, The Guardian, NME, RWD, Mixmag and more all featuring him early.
A genuine talent, Dot has already worked with Griminal, Ghetts, Maxsta, P Money, TinieTempah, Wiley and the rest. Brought up learning in the studio from reggae masters like Maxi Priest and Phillip Levy gave Dot a very different take on production which gives his output a more fully realized quality than most.
He’s set to appear on the new Comic Relief record ‘Teardrop’. As part of The Collective, a group of some of the biggest UK acts around, Dot appears alongside TulisaContostavlos, Chipmunk, Dot Rotten, Ed Sheeran, Ms. Dynamite, MzBratt, Rizzle Kicks, TinchyStryder& Wretch 32. It’s set to be one of the biggest, most high profile records of the year.
Looking forward, 2012 is set to the year Dot Rotten sears his name onto the British musical consciousness. An unbelievable talent, his one-of-a-kind status will propel him into the musical soul of the nation in the coming months.
