CEVIN FISHER FEAT. LOLEATTA HOLLOWAY
You Got Me Burning Up! - 2008 Mixes
Originally released in 1999, YGMBU! was one of Cevin Fishers genre-defining smash records, which came to exemplify the mood of an era and generation of house aficionados immediately prior to the Millennium. As a consequence the take-up of the original promo mixes on test pressings and advance copies was enormous, both in the UK and the US.
At this time Cevin was already widely regarded as a pioneer of cool progressive house with a unique style that crossed and incorporated many flavours of house music, whose diverse roots and lineage stretched back to the origins of modern dance/electronica itself. After DJing since his late teens he had been encouraged by Danny Tenaglia in the mid-1990s to commit his passion to a career that has since flourished internationally as an artist, producer, DJ and remixer to huge acclaim.
In 1999 Subversive Records licensed YGMBU! to Tommy Boy in New York. It charted at No 2 in US Billboard Club Chart rapidly, cementing Cevins status at home and abroad and making him the focus of a burgeoning international party scene that resulted in his follow-up classic The Freaks Come Out rocketing to the top spot on the US Billboard Club Chart shortly thereafter in 2000.
The tales of WMC 2000 and Danny Tenaglias set at Groovejet are now beyond legendary - for those who were there those times came to define more than just a scene - it gifted a unique shared moment of intense collective unity and oneness within a generation. That night on South Beach all those assembled freaks really did come out to play. Danny spun Freaks four times in his set, each time things becoming just that little bit crazier for the loved-up crowd - eyes met - smiles broadened - heads nodded and hot bodies grooved in time harder and faster and at that moment everyone knew that they were witnessing something totally unique.
Some say that that vibe has never been surpassed. As just one small element of the whole phenomena that surrounded the original releases of YGMBU! and The Freaks Come Out, Subversive remains immensely proud of the part that they played in heralding such massive drivers of collective love and solidarity amongst the international dance community. Given the impact of such incredible records Subversive had always intended to tempt Cevin to revisit some of his classic output because they, like so many, loved them with all our heart and soul.
So now, in 2008, Subversive presents a timely return to the spirit, the vibe, and the raw engine of Cevins inspiration that touched us all - YGMBU! 2008 with two new re-mix packages, containing mixes by artists such as Prok & Fitch, DJ Chus, Dean Coleman, Raul Rincon and the King of Progressive Soul himself.
