2011 looks to be both a hectic and prosperous year for Dr. Kucho! as his brainchild imprint Disc Doctor Recordsgears up to unleash its second release – “Sweet Revenge” – in just as many months.
Stepping up to the plate for round two are none other than fellow countrymen and house music frontrunners DJ Kone & Marc Palacios!Following in the footsteps of The Funky Truckerz and their smash hit “Traffic Jam” just weeks earlier Kone & Palacios become the second delectable duo of the year to be given the magic ‘go-ahead’ by the meticulous Kucho!
But having already smashed out quality remixes for previous Kucho! tracks including ‘La Isla’, and ‘Mogambos’, the outfit are no strangers to the Disc Doctor way of life and, as anticipated, take the Kucho! call-up right in their stride. The pair showcases tight production skills and imaginative flare by amalgamating crisp vivacious beats and animated tribal vocal cuts with syncopated synths stabs and mesmerizing brass leads.
True to form Dr Kucho! takes on the hefty task of re-licking what is already a quality original track and once again, he fails to disappoint. The Doctor’s interpretation on the flip offers a more playful, sexed-up version of the Kone & Palacios number, demonstrating that with nearly two decades of production under his belt, experience is a sure-fire winner. Funky guitar licks and infectious hopping basslines feature heavily in what evolves towards a lengthy euphoric build up, teasing and flirting in its ways before finally diving headfirst with a resounding thud into a truly pounding carnival style climax.
