Sony Music’s leading dance music imprint, Deconstruction Records, is launching its first clothing range beginning with a high-quality t-shirt line exclusive to Harvey Nichols’s London store, Harrods and Urban Outfitters.

The t-shirts have been designed by Deconstruction Records’ Creative Director, Mark Farrow, and feature the labels iconic slogans and graphics that have continued to define one of dance music’s most respected brands. Retailing from £40, the t-shirts are constructed from 100% lightweight cotton.

Named as Designer of the Year in the Creative Review Peer Poll in 2004, Mark Farrow was voted ‘the most important graphic designer working today’. His career began in the early 1980s designing experimental sleeves and posters for Factory Records, and The Haçienda, which placed him at the forefront of contemporary music graphic design. This has since continued with a longstanding creative partnership with the Pet Shop Boys, Kylie Minogue and Spiritualized amongst others. His minimalist approach, and a rigorous, highly precise attention to detail defines his aesthetic. In 2009 he was given the honour of Royal Designer for Industry (RDI) by the RSA.

SONY MUSIC’S HEAD OF MERCHANDISE, BOBBY LANGLEY, SAID:
“Club culture is a way of life and Deconstruction – past and present – has played a central role within it. The slogans and artwork have always been a defining character of what makes Deconstruction stand out from the other music labels, and this is now carried through to the clothing line, beginning with a range of t-shirts that embody that aesthetic”.

To celebrate the new range, Deconstruction will be hosting an in-store launch party at Harrods on 18 August featuring the label’s hottest talent.
