A sample quote from a review of Brighton hotshot Michael Morph's previous output: "Crikey. The first thing I think when I hear this is that my guts are about to drop through the floor. This is some serious bass". As this bombastic statement accurately suggests, Morphs music is no wallflower. It's not one to sit in the background and hope that you engage with its subtle, delicate stylings. It's balls-to-the-wall, bold, colourful stuff that demands your attention and compels you to dance.

His debut album 'Something For The Weakened' is a riot of riff-fuelled electro house, cool breakbeat, sprightly house, brash synth-pop, squelchy hip-house and wondrous electronica that looks set to propel him into the wider musical consciousness. Something like early Groove Armada meddling with a cookbook of musical recipes from the post nu-rave zeitgeist, it's as refreshing as it is energetic.

Michael Morph's career began DJing and producing in his native Nottingham, before he headed for the oft-sunny shores of the South Coast in order to immerse himself in a more musical surrounding. In the years when he was founding his feet, he even found himself selling gas door-to-door with Crazy P's Chris, all in order to support his love of producing. It paid off, eventually leading to a signing to acclaimed London label Pure Mint, and since then has found support from the likes of Laurent Garnier, James Lavelle, Hyper, Freq Nasty, Dave Spoon, Rennie Pilgrem and Annie Nightingale with his eclectic electronic beats.

His previous singles, included on this album, have been garnered with high marks from all the key dance music press, not to mention "one to watch" style features from I-DJ and DJMag. The Crowd C'est Beau crossed over into the breaks scene at large thanks to remixes from Aquasky and Orbitals Phil Hartnoll (in his Long Range guise), as well as Crazy P themselves, while the super-hot hip-house collaboration with lesbian Christian rap outfit Yo Majesty Do What You Want enjoyed widespread success and a slamming remix from Deekline. His most recent release, the raucous Go Cat Go! also features in all its bleepin electro glory.

His wide musical tastes are reflected in the album, as is his refreshingly optimistic nature he says of the state of the music industry at the present: "I dont care what anyone says. Theres rarely a week that goes by where I havent heard some piece of music that totally blows my socks off" This is an album that could only have been produced by someone with such a bold never-say-die attitude, and is without a doubt one to add to that undergarment-blasting pile of musical genius.
