Deadmau5 accused an Australian DJ of ‘punching him on the back of the head this week, via a series of posts on Twitter.
The uber-popular Canadian DJ (real name Joel T. Zimmerman) hinted at tension at the Birdee club Brisbane with an initially Tweet sneering ‘Thank god for creamfeilds tonight, coz the music at the afterrparty is fucking god awful.’ Soon afterwards he Tweeted about being thumped.
“Well the opening “dj” at the club decided to have a go at me,” Deadmau5 claimed, “So fuck him and fuck that club. I left.”
His use of the quotation marks for ‘Dj’ came some three years after he famously branded DJs ‘cunts’ in an hilarious interview with the Irish Daily Star in which he also complained that DJing ‘puts me to fucking sleep, to be quite honest’.
“I don’t really see the technical merit in playing two songs at the same speed together and it bores me to fucking tears and hopefully, with all due respect to the DJ type that will fucking go the way of the dinosaur, I'd like them to dis-a-fucking-pear!” he ranted,“It's so middle man, they’re like fucking lawyers!”
The latest incident occurred just as researchers from Australian Institute of Criminology published a study on people who end up arrested for assault on Fridays and Saturdays in Australia which revealed that the average assailant had consumed 22 drinks before being busted.
Almost 50% of the thugs were under 25 men, the Sydney Morning Herald reported with one third previously drinking ‘in a pub or nightclub’.
"It is little wonder that some young men are ending up in court on assault charges after drinking an average of 22 standard drinks in the hours before their crime,” federal Justice Minister, Brendan O'Connor told the Herald, “that's equal to a 700-millilitre bottle of spirits or about 16 bottles of beer," he said.
