From Dubai to Paris to London, JB Sparx’s journey as a DJ/Producer has been unique to say the least.
Whilst residing, producing and performing in Dubai & Abu Dhabi under his real-name Jean-Baptiste, JB had also made in-roads with EMI Arabia, with whom he had produced 3 singles that would appear on the label’s biggest selling compilation of 2007 ‘Arabian Nights’. He was regularly found behind the decks at some of the most prestigious venues across the two cities and was gaining quite a reputation for his musical talent - The Catch? He was a Frenchman in Dubai, and he realised his success would mean very little in the European and western dance communities.
After his deal with EMI expired, JB Sparx was born. With it came a reinvention of himself, a new direction, and eventually, a new record deal with London’s Agency Global.
‘I saw JB doing a gig at ‘Le Cab’ nightclub in Paris, and he dropped a track called ‘Colour Light’. Everybody in the club were going nuts and I decided there and then that I wanted him on my label’ says Nadeem Sham, Head of Agency Global.
‘Colour Light’ is JB Sparx’s debut single under his new moniker, and it’s a track that has been given a hook-heavy/Parisian-dance-floor makeover. The track also features the female British-Asian singer – Vanita, a vocalist who’s hypnotic phrases perfectly complement JB’s slick production.
Vanita is currently the only female British Asian artist in the UK signed to a mainstream label. She is tipped to follow Jay Sean by way of chart success and reaching out to a cross-over audience. She recently signed to Agency Global/Universal Music and her impact only helps to establish ‘Colour Light’ as a truly unique record.
‘Colour Light’ has a contemporary edge that JB Sparx is now ready to wow the specialist tastemakers and mainstream dance fans with. Not to be missed!
