The innovative Champion Records continue their March towards thirty years in the independent music game this April as they release their latest crossover smash ‘I’m Lost’, their first for 2009.
The debut offering from Israeli newcomers Runnerz, aka producer Niv K and vocalist Meital, the extended club mix and accompanying radio edit have been perfectly crafted for the dancefloor. Meanwhile remixes come courtesy of a couple of Champion favourites – GRN & Pagano.
GRN has previously worked his magic on the likes of Robin S for the label and in his deep, electronic take on the tune he keeps the distinctive hook, adding a huge Faithless–esque build-up and a healthy dose of extra synths. Rounding off the package is another Champion favourite – the one and only Pagano. Turning out a progressive dancefloor pleaser that builds and builds, whilst retaining just the right amount of the original’s charm.
Having released classic tracks ranging from Robin S’s ‘Show Me Love’, to Chubb Rock’s ‘Treat ‘Em Right’ Champion’s pedigree shows they have always had one foot firmly on the dancefloor. Not surprising for a company who count Paul Oakenfold as their first official employee. Introducing hits like Salt & Pepa’s ‘Push It’ to the UK, soundtracking the early house & garage movement with tracks from Blaze, Sybil and more and releasing million selling albums from the likes of Faithless and Dido. It’s all in a days work for the London indie.
