February’s Circus instalment keeps things very fresh, and indicative of the club’s forward-thinking aural manifesto hand-crafted by resident and promoter Yousef, there are no less than THREE debuts on show. Maintaining his own prolific rate of production into this New Year sees Yousef with a new release on Saved called I Suggest / Firecracker which is getting love from Adam Beyer, Nic Fanciulli, Laurent Garnier and Gregor Tresor. There’s also a new single for Renaissance coming soon too, Africa, with Circus resident Lewis Boardman and the Jet Project providing mixes. Also keep your eyes peeled for new remixes for Renaissance and Alive Records and mixes for Moby and Sven Vath too.

Headlining with Yousef is one of Circus’ faves, DLC. Derrick’s sets are rooted in house, but he freely travels outside club tastes, seamlessly incorporating old-school disco, soul, jazz and whatever catches his fancy. Carter rarely gives extensive interviews and has kept a low profile since his rise to fame. He famously ran a record label named Classic Recordings that (as planned ten years before) ceased to exist after its hundredth release. Above all, Derrick is still respected by some as one of the best house music DJs in the world.

Tel Aviv-based dance music producer Guy Gerber is this first of the debuting trio, a man who is famed for incorporating the best aspects of progressive house/trance, deep house, and techno into a unique style of his own. Equally revered for his productions as much as his scintillating sets, expect beefy beats from this outstanding young star.

For Fergie, his journey has taken him from early days of hard house through to an evolution which sees him now as one of the most innovative techno players on the scene. A proven forward thinker, constantly developing and never standing still, the architect of an ever evolving sound by keeping one step ahead of the rest, he has never forgotten though that it's still just a rave and making his Circus debut means trouble.

Then there’s blonde- haired vixen Heidi making her debut too, who throughout the last few years has played the world’s best clubs including Fabric, Panoramabar, Womb, Space Ibiza, with residencies at Watergate and Monza, having played on every continent except Antarctica in 2009 alone. Hailing from the Get Physical label, she offers enriching takes on house and techno.

The final guest is one of Yousef’s oldest friends. An insatiable appetite for musical stimulation has driven Paul Woolford to explore far beyond the cutting-edge house and techno that is his stock-in-trade, and led him down more experimental paths, embracing aspects of improvised jazz through his collaborative work with Paul Hession, and taking huge inspiration from the modern composition of Steve Reich. All this is distilled within the techno dynamic that Woolford has made second-nature in his sets.

Another trio of fine spinners each also star at this Circus session, including long serving resident Lewis Boardman, local disco king Gareth Cheshire and Circus and Magnet after party stalwart Scott Lewis. Each brings a distinct edge of their own to the proceedings, sure to stoke up The Masque with some refined aural action of the highest calibre.
