Summer Circus

Circus continuing their brilliance with a party tinged with sunshine and the bright optimism summer promises...

The summer hits full swing for Circus with a red hot party lined up. The sunshine has a rippling effect on the clubs with the brightness personified by outside blustering in with the guests for the gigs, Circus continuing their brilliance with a party tinged with sunshine and the bright optimism summer promises.

Headlining is Dutch leviathan Sander Kleinenburg, the face of Pioneer and one of the most truly technically talented jocks around. Famed for his ability with the trusy DVJs as he is one the ones and twos, cutting up and splicing videos as readily as the beats between, Sander is one the icons of global dance music. A perennial Circus fav, his sound of main room house music across the board has repeatedly endeared him to the throngs at the front, and long may it continue.

Yousef also steps up, the Circus kingpin bristling with the recent honur of being the first International DJ to play in Syria and the launch of his recent Circus Recordings imprint, fully reflective of the wider and maturer sound he has now adopted. Mark Knight, the man behind Toolroom records and one of the biggest and most reliable names in the business, makes his Circus debut as well, a long overdue appearance after a bevy of compilations for the likes of Subliminal and Ministry, and a raised profile once more courtesy of his stunning rework of Laurent Garnier’s ‘The Man with the Red Face’.

Also featuring for the first time is Paolo Mojo. One of the early pioneers of Ableton, his technical understanding was evident on his epochal Balance comp, where he blended the seemingly disparate strains of Sebestain Tellier’s mellow classic ‘La Ritournelle’ with the haunting chimes of Nathan Fake’s ‘The Sky is Pink’, entering DJ folklore in the process. And the final guest comes courtesy of a DJ who has represented Circus since day one, Chi Town master Justin Long. His acid tinged bumpty grooves have been demanded on the Circus message board for years, and he finally returns.

Resident wise Circus bids a very special farewell to Will Jazz, who hangs up his headphones after this gig. An extended set gives him the chance to say goodbye to the club he has helped soundtrack since the off. Sydney badboy John DeVecchis completes the bill.
