Named Recommends, each volume in the series will be a choice selection of some of the best music around.
The End’s virtual mixtape is the modern day equivalent of sitting with all of your cassettes spread out on the floor, painstakingly copying tracks one by one onto a master tape, which you then hand-decorate and give to your best friend or potential snog. Thankfully, the wonderous world of technology means this process is no longer necessary - but nonetheless, the same blood, sweat and tears has gone into selecting the perfect soundtrack each month.
Each instalment will bring you something a little different – whether a snapshot of what’s great from a specific genre, a showcase from one particular label, or a cross-genre musical medley of tracks that are rocking The End’s stereo right now. Each volume will aim to introduce some new acts that are kicking musical ass at the moment, alongside tracks from artists already at the top of their game.
Recommends Vol 1. launches on March 27th with a monster selection of tracks from artists Carl Craig, Simian Mobile Disco, Alex Metric, Late of the Pier, Black Ghosts and labels Soma, Brownswood and Marine Parade, plus heaps more. Visit www.endclub.com/recommends for more info from March 27th.
In addition, the club is also launching a monthly podcast, ‘Live at The End’ which will allow you to download some of the best mixes from the club for your iPod, as well as listen to interviews with artists. Layo & Bushwacka! provide the mix for the first podcast, with Ben Watt and James Holden set to follow. You will be able to download The End Podcast from www.endclub.com/podcasts or iTunes from March 27th.
Endclub.com already has a huge selection of mixes recorded live at the club that you can stream from the site, but this is the first time they are offering free music to download on a regular basis. Download it, burn it, stick it on your stereo - celebrate and dance for free!
