If you don’t know what the Miami Winter Music Conference (WMC) is by now, then shame on you. It’s the annual event (since 1985) attended by the world’s keenest clubbers, DJ’s, producers and self appointed music aficionados. For one week of the year it affords everyone the opportunity to rub sun-kissed shoulders with the biggest movers and shakers in the game.
While technically still a conference, it bears much more resemblance to a multi venue international festival. Now instead of hanging by the pool and exchanging ideas and tracks it’s all about looking good at the beach party, listening to new tunes breaking and partying to your favourite DJ till dawn. It’s true to say the WMC has evolved to become the mother of all world clubbing events.
This is still the important place that the years dance tracks are broken, so Defected Records are always quick off the mark to bring to you the most upfront, pacey and realistic sample of the sound that is dominant on South Beach before anyone else.
Defected In the House Miami 09 is a collection of three outstanding mixes that will represent the conference and its whole vibe from start to finish. From a lazy ‘pool party’, ‘sundown’ and then ultimately ‘In da club’.
This year its all about unveiling our new artists, so we’re bringing you two DJ’s that firmly represent Europe and one that firmly represents the established US Sound.
First meet DJ Yass, a brand new unique signing from Paris, he is the protégé of the French house music collective that includes Bob Sinclar, DJ Gregory and Claude Monnet. His style is smooth and soulful and the mix perfectly represents the ‘pool party’ vibe. He will be one to watch this year for sure.
DJ Spen is a veteran of the house scene and connects us directly with the US. He is immensely experienced, with an infinite knowledge of House, this is the guy that many DJ’s try to emulate. He brings us his superb selection that sets up the vibe for his ‘Sundown’ mix.
Finally mix three comes from David Penn. Originally from Madrid, he has been recently crowned ‘Best Club DJ’ 09 and on top of being awarded ‘Best House Production’ last year in Spain by DeeJay Magazine. He delivers a tougher peak time vibe with his ‘In Da Club’ mix.
This album contains 13 exclusive upfront tracks, including the outstanding Yass ‘When Doves Cry’ (Muthafunkaz Remix), Julien Jabre ‘Vicious Circle’ and Baggi Begovic ‘Call Of The Wild’. As well as special exclusive multimedia contents including screensavers, wall papers and a videocast from our new big album series Clubland Adventures, all contained on CD1.
