This month sees the return of Soul to House music. In recent times where Tech-House has been King, it’s refreshing to hear Dance4Daddy’s debut release “Another Day” which has broken the mould with a slice of quality on this 8-mix package!
A pleasantly nostalgic piece of Soulful House reminding one of the heady Ian Pooley golden days. The package kicks off with in-house D4D’s own Moscomusic mix with smoothened synth melodies beautifully complimented by a sensual, catchy vocal from BBC Masterclass winner Jacy Mai. Bringing all the ingredients of a modern day uplifting House Classic.
Next up we encountered Sted-E & Hybrid Heights’ radio edit, which wastes no time ripping straight into inspired stabbing synths, contrasted by sleek vocals, rolling into perfectly scattered percussion. Their club mix equivalent is characterised by an infectious slice of chopped up vox is joined by a sure fire, hands in the air breakdown. Following on from that the Dub mix offers a spacious rolling vibe best served up in the early hours.
Dolls Combers comes with a typically clean, rolling groove on his Roots Mix. Here we find refreshing progression in the form of intricate keyboard work that sprinkles gorgeous mini-moog action over the grooves.
Their Dub mix is especially for you to get lost in whilst generally chilling your beans. Seany B’s mix then finishes off this excellent package delivering bouncing beats over a solid sub-bass groove, promptly followed by a pleasant vocal that flows with ease.
A simple yet effective DJ Tool. Dance4Daddy seem to be releasing a breath of life & creative energy into a world where excessive repetition can manifest itself before you can say copy, paste. Such a musical approach to House gives us hope that the Funk we all know and love, is still out there!
