The Guardian Music Weekly podcast returns for the New Year with a new host, exciting new features and exclusive music performances.
From Friday 29 January, Alexis Petridis will be stepping into the Music Weekly chair taking over from Paul MacInnes. Alexis is the Guardian’s head rock and pop critic and his experience within the music industry is second to none. His input will widen the scope and reach of the podcast.
For the first episode Massive Attack will be talking listeners through their forthcoming album, Heligoland, ahead of its release on the 8 February. The panel, including Miranda Sawyer and Rosie Swash, will then discuss their thoughts on the new offering. Unique to the first show will be a label profile of Soul Jazz, examining their impact and influence on the music industry and the singles club will be returning to the Music Weekly for a new term.

Listeners can expect to hear in depth analysis on music trade news, unusual features on established artists, label profiles, interesting contributors and a greater focus on new music.
