Channel Zoo continues with Ibiza’s only label showcase with a nod towards one of the leading lights in underground house and techno, Oslo Records, and one of the most consistently decent house, disco and techno nights from the north of England, Leeds’ Asylum.

Coming together at the abandoned zoo with shared ideals – a love of quality music, dancing and carrying on – but from a world of different backgrounds, the Channel Zoo crowd is one with unrivalled high spirits. As the channel changes once again, crowds tonight are treated to a set form Oslo boss Federico Molinari. His label evenly straddles house and his sets are funky, driving things which will force any beat head to dance.

Christian Burkhardt is someone who’s released on Oslo, Raum and Deep Vibes Recordings, and has plied his German house sound to clubbers everywhere from Sonar to WMC this year. His mixes have an unerring sense of forward momentum and tons of chunky beats.

Asylum residents PBR Streetgang are also on hand to dish out more electronic greatness, along with Dan Ward aka Negghead, and The Minx FX put the icing on the cake this evening. They bring exotic dancers and stilt walkers through the day, then explode into the night with high energy fire art, spark shows, Amazon princesses and acrobatic cats to perform in the seal pit arena. This focus on fun is the blueprint for Channel Zoo and makes for a refreshing and unforgettable, underground house and techno mini festival each week, with the best soundtrack around.

Gyrating with likeminded people with no pretentions, no hang ups and to innovative 4/4 and techno from the top of electronica’s pile is what Ibiza’s all about. To do all that under the scorching Ibizan sun, and in an abandoned zoo, is a rare and wildly exciting clubbing experience which underlines Channel Zoo’s position at the top of any clubbing ‘to-do’ list for summer 2009.
