Following a routine hospital operation, the world’s most popular female DJ developed a severe post-op infection. After being rushed to Accident & Emergency in the early hours of 31 January, she has been told by doctors to suspend all gig commitments until the beginning of March.
Renowned as one of the most prolific DJs in the world, Lisa regularly clocks up 200 gigs a year over the past decade. The decision to cancel any commitments has not been taken lightly – (and is against her own wishes!). She plans to reschedule as many of the cancelled gigs as soon as possible. Her first appearance will be at the Hard Dance Awards in Sheffield on 29 February 2008.
Lisa’s full statement is below:
To all my fans,
At the start of January I underwent a planned, routine operation. Based upon medical advice, it was expected and hoped that I would have been able to return to the decks from the start of February. Unfortunately, during the post-op recovery phase I developed a severe infection, which resulted in me being rushed to the hospital's A&E department in the early hours of Thursday night (31 January). As a result of this and further professional medical advice, it is with deep regret that I am having to suspend all gigs until the start of March.
I am hopeful and confident that with the extra recovery period these cancellations bring, it will enable me to give 100% the next time I play at the Hard Dance Awards - Sheffield (29 February 2008).
I have not taken this decision lightly and I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to those fans who have been left disappointed. Rest assured, I will be back!
