Easily the two biggest DJs of their ilk within their field, this is the soundclash that dance music has been waiting for. Erol Alkan goes toe to toe with his spiritual German brother, the riot-inducing Boys Noize. Alkans ferocious rock n rave aesthetic has expanded tremendously since he first exploded into the clubbing world in the early years of the twenty first century. Now boasting a sound that rifles through acid disco to techno to electroclash and house, Erol continues to defy naysayers and smash dancefloors.
Alex Ridha, as his passport reveals Boys Noize to be, is just as prominent. Coming off the strength of that Bloc Party remix in 2005, since then he has started his own label, smashed a Bugged Out compilation out, a Mixmag cover mix and become an international star of electro and techno, remixing everyone from NERD to Depeche Mode. Pitting his wits against a man once his benchmark but now resolutely his peer, this looks set to be an iconic moment in Chibukus musical history. James Rand is the lucky chap setting the pace.
The Loft sees some rude boy riddims on the go as a very special drum n bass guest swings through. Whilst the TBA allows for the anticipation to start, that is strengthened by the definites kicking off the fun. Subfocus plays live, bringing his techno influenced sound to the stage for the very first time at a Chibuku show. His dark, futuristic DJ sets have always been welcomed; this gives him the opportunity to showcase his breathtaking productions. Scouse jungle tyrant Futurebound also gets busy in support.
And finally Ink. Theres some lovely business on the go in here, as mellow dubstep pioneer and rave assassin Joy Orbison brings the pressure. A producer of mesmerising ability and potential, Joys DJ sets belies the intricate and subtle nature of his productions by ransacking two step, dubstep, classic old skool and nascent acid house. Support comes from widely tipped star Roska, the brilliantly funky producer who has got the housier side of the scene excited with tunes such as Squark and Climate Change.
