Dont bin it bring it! Free Recycling Party at Punk, 10th Nov
Featuring guest djs ROB DA BANK & JACKMASTER plus
MAN LIKE ME & SPECIAL GUEST LIVE ON STAGE
Ever wondered what to do with your old mobile or iPod? Got drawers teeming with broken electrical items? European Recycling Platform (ERP) have the answer bring it to their party at Punk, Soho on 10th November and gain free entry to an evening of eclectic beats with guest DJs Rob Da Bank (the Bestival boss) and Jackmaster.
Electrical waste is the fastest growing waste stream in the world and young people are particularly heavy on gadget use. ERP has recycled 1 million tonnes of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) across Europe which is equal to the removal of 3.5 million cars from the road for 1 year. A quarter of a million tonnes of WEEE was collected from the UK alone. ERP is holding the Recycling Party to celebrate this achievement and to get the Dont bin it message across your local authority will recycle WEEE for free.
ERPs party opens at 8pm and features a special guest from the vibrant folktronica scene live on stage at 9.15pm, followed by brazen London trio Man Like Me at 11pm; inner-city themes and multi-generic electro/pop/grime singles including Single Dad and London Town have established MLM as one of the capitals most compelling young live acts.
With Christmas coming up, what better time to be a clutter-buster and Feng Shui the WEEE? Only 20% of small electricals are currently being recycled compared to 93 percent of fridges. The remaining 80% is not necessarily being binned, but the materials in electronic goods are valuable - 8 tonnes of gold, 65 tonnes of silver and 40,000 tonnes of copper have been recovered from the million tonnes of WEEE recycled by ERP. These can be used to make new products and presents: those Dad gadgets, toys and toothbrushes dont necessarily have to cost the earth
All types of small electrical waste will be accepted to gain entrance to the Recycling Party.
Entry is on a first come, first in basis.

In 2009, nearly 450,000 tonnes of e-waste was collected and recycled in the UK, around 35%. Thats the weight of 100,000 African elephants.
The plastics, circuit boards, wiring, metals and batteries in small electricals can all be taken out and used to make new products.
Producers of electronic goods are required by law to pay a registered e-waste recycling scheme, such as ERP, to collect and treat e-waste on their behalf. This is a result of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) legislation which came into force in July 2007.
