Where would one Prince William and one Kate Middleton go for their Stag and Hen parties the night before the big day? A Right Royal Rave of course, and Pump Up The Volume have provided exactly that.
There’s a lot of excitement building up around the Royal Wedding, but amongst London’s clubbers that’s mainly because they’ve very generously given us another excuse to throw big parties with plenty of days off after which disperses the worry of being naughty on a school night. Thank you Will and Kate, and Queeny of course.
So Pump Up The Volume, east London’s hugely popular club night dedicated to 90’s hip hop, house and pop have planned the best stag / hen do fit enough for a future king and queen, and us commoners to boot. Sadly Prince wasn’t available to perform at the proceedings but thankfully Baby D is!
Baby D of 90’s chart topping ‘Let Me Be Your Fantasy’ and “I Need Your Loving” fame are back for this one time only performance of their biggest 90’s hits. Live, yes Live let me tell you.
Also royally raving it up will be Pump Up The Volume’s trusted footmen residents Wang Chung, Sophie Lloyd and Naomiii. All playing William’s favourite 90’s gems including the likes of TLC, Altern 8, Whitney Houston, Rhythm is Rhythm, Bizzare Inc, En Vogue, Jazzy Jeff, Lucy Pearl, Vanilla Ice, Gang Starr, Madonna, Q Tip and a whole lot more,
And back by popular demand since their appearance at Pump Up The Volume’s Halloween Special, the Lost & Found crew will be hosting room 2 with their specialist nonsense facilitating activities all themed around royal wedding craziness.
Pump Up The Volume has been whipping up a retro frenzy in London’s cool clubland with regular parties at Dalston’s Visions featuring some of the best classic and underground house and hip hop from the 90’s with sets from special guest DJ’s. Previous guests have included Tayo, Severino of Horse Meat Disco, Altern 8, Jon Carter, Leo Greenslade of yOyO, Bugged Out’s Johnno, and Alexa Chung at the PUTV on Ice at Somerset House. Pump Up The Volume also rocked the backstage bar last summer at London’s newest Electronic festival, LED in Victoria Park. Join in the 90’s fun on the PUTV Facebook page along with the huge amount of followers already switched onto the PUTV vibe.
Its time to remember! Its time to rave once more!

THE BLURB:
The 90's Children have grown up and are now ready to remember!
PUMP UP THE VOLUME is the new night about town. Bored of the 80’s revival? Been inspired by the current hark back to 90’s fashion in Top Shop? Want to remember that last decade of the 20th Century before everything went all ‘digital and download’? Well PUMP UP THE VOLUME is here to serve....
The 1990’s were a great decade for music. The dance scene exploded and created the many sub-genres that we know and love today. Pump Up the Volume by MARRS, was one record that defined the sound of the decade. It became a one-hit wonder of rare influence, was a number 1 hit in many countries and is generally regarded as a significant milestone in the development of British house music and music sampling. And so it seems the perfect name (and no doubt last tune of many fun night to come) for a night dedicated to the brilliance of the 90’s.
The 1990’s in the world of music were a decade synonymous with samples, just as the world of 90’s fashion took the same approach. Not really an iconic decade for style, it was characterized by minimalist styles, some of which were dubbed ‘anti fashion’, a backlash against the excessive fashion of the 1980s. Unlike previous decades the 1990’s were not defined by any one style, but rather a mash-up of past eras and decades.
So what you’ll find at PUMP UP THE VOLUME is an up-for-it-crowd, remembering that anarchistic attitude with a pure passion for music. The music you’ll be hearing will jump from old school hip-hop, pop, and dance classics. The night will be held together by the all female residents: Naomiii and Sophie Lloyd [see full details below], plus guest DJ’s dropping by to play alternative 90’s sets.
The venue - Visions - is an old video shop in Dalston transformed into a nightclub. With a 300 capacity complete with old video wall it’s the perfect setting for Pump Up The Volume.
So if you want to hear records by the likes of TLC, Altern 8, Whitney Houston, Rhythm is Rhythm, Bizzare Inc, En Vogue, Jazzy Jeff, Lucy Pearl, Vanilla Ice, Gang Starr, Madonna, Q Tip and a whole lot more, and you want to dance again with pure abandonment while wearing your baggy trousers and cropped tops, or smiley t-shirts with a big grin on your face, then you know where to come!
