Witness the recent spate of bookings, including everyone from Simon Baker to Dyed Soundorom to Jozif to Chris Lattner. In a region bereft of clubbing endeavour, Sonido’s bravery is all the more remarkable for sticking to their guns resolutely, bringing an all manner of underground talent to the Midlands.
March’s gig then is in keeping with this ethic: witness a double of duos guesting at Superfly, headlined by the rather special Bostonian pairing Soul Clap. By harnessing the past Soul Clap looks to the future, with many forward-thinking productions, remixes and edits along with 2011 looking like a busy year for them behind the decks too. Always pushing new boundaries, always travelling through time and space, decades of experience has prepared Soul Clap to free your mind, and your ass will follow. They are sonic scientists who craft deep disco, crate-dug house and classics from the vaults, along with their own upfront edits and cuts.
They showed their mettle at Sonido’s 2nd birthday and are back for a second showing. For some time now the combined forces of Mark Caramelli and Paul Hargreaves have been causing a huge stir under their guise, Death On The Balcony. Their unique style fuses a range of influences from Nu Disco, House to Deep Techno and everything in-between depending on the time and space. Years of dedicated musical passion and an eclectic appreciation of numerous genres have lead to their sound becoming perfected and receiving huge popularity across the board.
