Yorkshire Police have agreed to allow Gatecrasher Leeds to re-open shortly after previously declaring it should be ‘permanently’ closed following a serious of violent incidents which culminated in a stabbing of a 17 year youth in January.
Announcing their U turn, cops and council officials said the superclub will need to follow strict new conditions including introducing plastic (polycarbonate) glasses in bars and monthly meetings between cops and a new management team the club will have to install.
Councillor Suzi Armitage told local newspaper the Harrogate News that the conditions will be rigorously enforced saying they ‘require a great deal of commitment and improved cooperation from the management.’
“The safety of people attending the club is our priority therefore a failure to meet these conditions will result in further action being taken,” she warned. (Harrogate News: http://bit.ly/kyhb9a )
In more Gatecrasher news, publicists announced that Paul Oakenfold will be spinning at their Birmingham venue, replicating earlier performances at which the veteran celebrity DJ ‘attacked the limelight’.
“Oakenfold will be bringing the full Vegas experience to Birmingham,” said official ticket seller Skiddle.com, “as Sin City meets the Midlands,’ they promised. (Skiddle.com: http://bit.ly/iMUkuk )
