With the festival only seven weeks away the vinspired Lake of Stars team have put together a little something to get people in the festival spirit. After a string of successful events at the Rich Mix centre showcasing some of the very best up-and-coming talent of 2010, vinspired Lake of Stars are back to give the British public just a little taster of the vibe that has made it one of the top 20 festivals in the world.
Featuring Xfm Dance-Rock DJ, TV presenter and of one half of Losers Eddie Temple Morris. The multi-talented DJ and organizer of Secret Garden Party, one of Britain’s most popular festivals, will be gracing us with his presence in October in Malawi; September's event gives us the opportunity for a sneak preview of just what he’s capable of. Continuing in the same eclectic vein as our previous events; lining up alongside ETM are Benin City. With their Outkast-meets-James Brown style, Benin City are one of the UK's outstanding new bands. This brilliant London five-piece outfit fuses funk, drum and bass, hip-hop, Afrobeat, poetry and jazz, fronted by two of the UK's finest spoken word artists, Joshua Idehen and Musa Okwonga.
The vinspired Lake of Stars monthly residency at the Rich Mix Arts Centre in Shoreditch was launched in February to huge success. Festival founder Will Jameson says:
“Our residency is an exciting opportunity for us to stage free quality live events in the heart of Shoreditch, giving people a small glimpse of what our festival is all about. We are going to be booking some of the brightest talent of 2010 - and obviously in these cash-strapped times the price is right too!”
